Akron Tool & Die was established in 1941 to provide precision
machinery components to the rubber industry. By the 1960s we branched
out to serve the rapidly growing plastics industry, supplying original
equipment manufacturers with extrusion dies, adapters, feed pipes, and
related components for polymer processing machines.
As our experience broadened over the years, we increasingly found
customer production problems as they attempted to adapt existing
equipment to their particular products. During the 1990s we added
engineering and design services to our product offerings, supplying
custom solutions for uncommon extrusion problems. This led to our own
proprietary line of strip dies, pellet dies, and blown film dies, to
name just a few. We have now developed modified die geometries and
concepts that allow their use with other extruded products such as
mastics, specialty food items, and chemical catalyst carriers.
In many cases we can solve an extrusion problem with our superior
component designs, or by suggesting modifications to extrusion
processes and equipment. We have helped many of our customers decrease
energy costs while increasing throughput and quality by suggesting
ways to better control temperature, moisture content, or material
flow.
The location of Akron Tool & Die in the middle of Northeast Ohio's
innovation corridor exposes our engineers to the latest manufacturing
technologies for rubber, plastics, and a wide variety of other
materials. Our area is home to a highly developed infrastructure that
allows us to offer our customers value added services such as state of
the art heat treating, wear and corrosion-resistant surface
treatments, specialty coatings, and metallurgical innovations.
Our 15,000 square foot facility includes the latest
machinery
technologies that provide advanced manufacturing capabilities for our
customers' unique tooling needs. Our products now include both new and
rebuilt dies, barrels and other components for extruders made by many
different manufacturers, which can then produce a wide range of shapes
and sizes in a variety of materials. We are committed to maintaining
this technology edge and supplying superior customer service while
providing products at a competitive price.
